Career Goals
I chose to be a health coach because I wanted to work with people in making improvements in multiple areas of their lives. This includes giving them nutrition advice, fitness and meal plans, encouragement, as well as sustainable changes in their everyday lifestyle. I have always had a heart to help people and I am very passionate about health. Many of the reasons why I chose this path are seen in my background described in the about me section on my home page.
I would love if my client base was overweight/ obese populations, so I could help them change their lifestyle to better their length and quality of life. Being a health coach also gives me opportunities to develop other means of helping people like opening a gym, having a social media platform, writing a book, or working in a wellness company. Although health coaches do not start out making a lot of money, there are growth opportunities the more experience one gets. I am not deterred by this because I did not choose this career for the money. It is what I love doing. I am excited to start the next stage of my life when I will be a practicing health coach after completing my degree and earning certification to do so. One specific goal that I have that will make me feel complete is working with one person to change their eating habits and exercise routine so they can lose weight. This goal is very visual because I will feel like I am achieving more and more for that person as they lose the weight that holds them back from living. If I can help just one person change their life, I will meet my goal. As I help more and more people, my aspirations will change to include a wider range of individuals. Eventually, I would like to develop an online health service for moms who want to improve their health and their families' health. This service will help the next generation of children learn how important eating healthy foods and exercising regularly is. I hope that one day I will help prevent an incline in childhood obesity rates and provide a way to decline the prevalence of apathetic Americans towards unhealthy living.
Current Job
I am currently working as a personal trainer at Victory Strength and Fitness in Greenwood, Indiana. I love my job because I can help people achieve their fitness goals in a healthy and upbeat environment. I still aspire to have my own wellness coaching business, but this position is giving me a lot of experience with the fitness side of the industry and I love it!
